Fitness Kids was established in 2009. In conjunction with the current government campaign that encouraged kids and families to eat healthier and exercise and ‘get up off the couch’ Established by Sarah Rickwood, who is an experienced personal trainer specialising in children’s fitness and with a Diploma in Nutrition, and Self Esteem Coaching Certificate in Children, Fitness Kids provides parents with a personal resource of dedicated professional.
Sarah Rickwood has experience in dealing with energetic sports-minded children quickly highlighted the difficulties confronting those youngsters who weren’t motivated by organised sporting activities in maintaining a healthy regime and often a disorganised mind.
With her experience as a personal fitness trainer for both children and adults, and endorsed with YMCA Child Fitness training, and Yoga Bananas Childrens Yoga Qualification Sarah launched a dedicated service of professionals who are experts in their field in helping those children not active in organised sports and who felt discouraged to explore a more active lifestyle.
Sarah developed supervised exercise sessions supplemented by nutritional advice to provide fun-filled activities for children – although of course parents are welcome to join in!
Kids in our age are caught up in a hectic world where they are absorbed in a helter skelter of entertainment on demand, the temptation of fast-food focused diets, and a daily routine often dominated by activities distant from healthy exercise. This combined with a reluctance for parents to encourage their children to play outside of the home unsupervised has led to growing concerns over the well-being of the modern younger generation.
Quite often there are other factors influencing a child’s reluctance to become involved in healthier pursuits which can include a lack of confidence, negative self-consciousness and for those without sporting ability ridicule from their peers leading to lack of self esteem.
Fitness Kids through the fun-filled approach, is tailor-made to suit your child’s character and demeanour, can help overcome any negative influences and build self-confidence and self esteem. Fitness Kids also work with the parents who become often troubled by the inability to work with their child in identifying self esteem issues and fitness problems.
We also provide day courses for parents and activities for parents and their child pre school in the comfort of their home and so no worrying about day care. Personal training, buggy classes and child and parent yoga.
