At Fitness Kids we also like to connect to children at all levels and their experiences and levels of understanding that Sarah Rickwood often puts into stories. A child awhile ago had lost their grandmother and from that episode Sarah Rickwood created this story to reassure them and the parent and add creativity to explaining the concept of loss and heaven, so that comfort was found in their loss.
What is Heaven
Mummy told me that my gran had gone to heaven, but where is heaven ?
I looked behind the sofa, I looked outside. I took my bike down the lane and looked in Daddy’s car but I couldn’t find heaven.
I asked several people who smiled back at me sweetly, and pointed to the sky. But why would heaven be in the sky and if so I had never seen any steps or any ways to get there.
At night I would rack my brains for all the places I hadn’t looked like in the cupboards or under the stairs.
One evening I sat outside staring at a sky covered in stars and something fell on me, it was shiny and bright and glistened – it was I believe star dust. The star dust shimmered all around me and I started to float high high into the sky.
All of a sudden I looked up and my gran was smiling at me ‘Gran’ I squealed ‘I have looked everywhere for you they said you had gone to heaven, are we under the stairs? Where are we?’
My gran smiled and said ‘ No my love we are not under the the stairs, we are above even the stars , all you have to do to find me though in the future is close your eyes and the star dust, your heart and memories and my love for you will take you to me,’
I smiled and knew then I had my gran was with me forever…
